ABUS window anti-lift device FAS97, steel

The hinge-side security ABUS FAS97 secures the hinge or hinge-side of windows and window-doors (e.g. glazed, balcony, patio doors, etc.) against forceful attack and prying. The hinge-side security strengthens the weak window hinge-side, which is often used during burglaries to open the window. A hinge-side security like the ABUS FAS97 can be quickly and easily retrofitted to most windows. When the window is opened, the ABUS FAS97 hinge-side security simply swings with the sash. The product is NOT suitable for tilt-turn, pivoting or folding-sash windows!

ABUS FAS97 - Use & Application:

The ABUS FAS97 supplementary security is generally suitable for all inward-opening windows as well as for glazed, balcony and patio doors with turn or tilt-and-turn fittings. The hinge-side security ABUS FAS97 can be used for both right- and left-hand hung windows.

Due to the automated locking when the window is closed, the security is always engaged. Only before tilting the window must the folding latch be pushed to the side. When closing the window it locks automatically. No keys are required for the ABUS FAS97.

ABUS FAS97 - Dimensions & Installation:

The ABUS FAS97 window security is mounted on the inside or hinge-side of the window. The hinge-side security can be attached to plastic, wood or aluminium windows. Thanks to its compact dimensions, the FAS97 can also be used in confined installation situations and on narrow window frames. Installation takes place approximately 30 cm to 40 cm away from the upper or lower hinge. During installation the frame strip is attached to the window frame, the sash plate to the window sash. The security is mounted centrally between the two hinges.

The installation can be carried out by yourself with relatively little effort - if you do not feel confident installing it yourself, please hire a tradesperson. All mounting materials required for installation and a detailed manual are included. According to DIN 18104-1, it is recommended to fit one supplementary security device per metre of window height (per window). This recommendation is also shared by the police and the insurance industry. For windows made of softwood or soft & brittle plastic, several hinge-side security devices should also be used. In principle, the lock side of the window should be protected with additional window locks. For doors, optional door lift-off protection devices can be used to secure the hinge side.

Please note: For hollow plastic window frames it may be necessary to fit so-called fixing anchors.

Hinge-side security devices should, to increase security, be separately protected on the opposite side (lock side) with mechanical devices such as additional window locks, e.g. with the ABUS FTS96 or the ABUS FTS3003. Alternative devices that protect the entire width of the window are telescopic bars (e.g. ABUS Tele-Z 100) or window bar locks (e.g. ABUS FOS550).

ABUS FAS97 or ABUS FAS101?

In addition to the hinge-side security ABUS FAS97, ABUS also offers the hinge-side security ABUS FAS101 as another supplementary window security for the hinge side. The ABUS FAS97, in contrast to the ABUS FAS101, features automatic locking - a manual locking is not necessary. In addition, the ABUS FAS101 is still available in silver.

The Burg-Wächter WS 44 is another hinge-side security available. With the universal window securities Safewolff and Burg-Wächter WX 4 the hinge sides can also be secured.
