Spax window construction screw FEX-KS WIROX - Features
The cross recess power drive offers, compared with the simple slotted power drive, the advantage that the screwdriver can no longer slip out sideways and thus damage the workpiece. We integrate the cross recess H-power drive into our window construction screws (FEX) or drywall screws (GIX), as the required driving torque is not so high in these cases.
The countersunk head (or flat countersunk head) mills a recess into the wood with its polygonal underside (“pockets”) and can therefore be countersunk without additionally countersinking the screw hole. The countersunk head sits flush with the surface.
In certain applications you need to fasten timber add-on parts to metal substructures. This is the case, for example, with our terrace screw SPAX ALU or in drywall construction. Since normal screws would fail on hard metal, we also offer screws with a special drill point. Externally it resembles the tip of a metal drill bit and features two small cutting edges. The SPAX ALU pre-drills in aluminium up to a wall thickness of 4 mm so that the thread can cut into the material. You can drive it in just as easily as our wood construction screws.
What this means for you: For certain wall thicknesses — 2 mm in metal and 4 mm in aluminium — the otherwise usual pre-drilling with a metal drill bit is unnecessary. No bit changes, no broken thin metal drill bits in the screw hole.
