SPAX GIX-C collated plasterboard screw, fully threaded, pointed milling head, cross recess, needle point

Product information "SPAX GIX-C collated plasterboard screw, fully threaded, pointed milling head, cross recess, needle point"

GIX is the generic name for the SPAX drywall screws, which you can easily recognise by their black colour. This colouring is the result of a phosphate coating, a corrosion protection that ensures the screws do not draw moisture and do not show through on the wall surface. In addition, the phosphate coating on the screw head provides the perfect adhesion for the subsequent joint filler. Drywall screws have a special head, the trumpet head. At Spax it is shaped so that when screwing into the drywall substructure it does not pierce the delicate paper layer of the plasterboard. The GIX drywall screws therefore ensure a perfect hold of the boards and can be countersunk easily and to the millimetre.

Three thread types are available for the drywall screws:
The GIX A with fine thread is ideally suited for screwing into metal studwork.
The GIX B with coarse thread are required for studwork made of wood.
The GIX C is your partner when working with gypsum fibre boards.
The GIX D, with its self-drilling tip, is used for secure fastening into thicker metal studs up to 2 mm material thickness.

What this means for you: For every material combination in drywall construction you are perfectly equipped with our GIX drywall screws.

Spax drywall screw GIX-C - Features

The cross recess torque drive offers, compared with the simple slotted torque drive, the advantage that the screwdriver can no longer slip out to the side and thereby damage the workpiece. We integrate the cross recess H torque drive in our window screws (FEX) or drywall screws (GIX), since the required driving torque here is not so high.

The countersunk head (or flat countersunk head) mills a recess into the wood with its polygonal underside ("pockets") and can therefore be countersunk without additionally countersinking the screw hole. The countersunk head sits flush with the surface.

In contrast to partial thread, the full thread extends over the entire length of the screw. The more thread turns a screw has, the greater the tensile and compressive forces that can be transmitted from the screw into the wood. Our full-thread screws are mainly used for highly stressed wood joints.

Our needle point is characterised by a steeper and longer shaping of the screw tip. This enables a non-slip and pinpoint placement of the screw, especially on smooth substrates. In addition, it ensures quick penetration into metal and plastic profiles.

Phosphating means applying a phosphate layer to steel components such as screws. Our phosphated GIX screws for drywall offer two advantages: on the one hand, they do not draw moisture like galvanised screws – that is, they do not show through on the wall surface. On the other hand, the phosphated screw heads provide perfect adhesion for the joint filler.
