SPAX plasterboard screw GIX-C - fully threaded, pointed milling head, cross-recess, needle point

Product information "SPAX plasterboard screw GIX-C - fully threaded, pointed milling head, cross-recess, needle point"

GIX is the collective term for the SPAX plasterboard screws, which you can easily recognise by their black colour. This colouring is the result of phosphating, a corrosion protection that ensures the screws do not draw in moisture and do not show through on the wall surface. In addition, the phosphating on the screw head provides the perfect adhesion for the subsequent jointing compound. Plasterboard screws have a special head, the bugle head. At SPAX it is shaped so that when screwing into the plasterboard substructure it does not pierce the sensitive paper layer of the plasterboard. The GIX plasterboard screws therefore ensure a perfect hold of the boards and can easily be countersunk to the millimetre.

Three types of thread are available for the plasterboard screws:
The GIX A with fine thread is ideally suited for screwing into metal studwork.
The GIX B with coarse thread is what you need for a timber studwork.
The GIX C is your partner when working with gypsum fibreboards.
The GIX D, with its self‑drilling point, stands for secure screwing into thicker metal studs up to 2 mm material thickness.

What this means for you: For every material combination in drylining you are perfectly equipped with our GIX plasterboard screws.

Spax plasterboard screw GIX‑C - Features

The cross‑recess torque drive offers the advantage, compared with a simple slotted torque drive, that the screwdriver can no longer slip to the side and thus damage the workpiece. We integrate the cross‑recess H torque drive in our window screws (FEX) or plasterboard screws (GIX), as the required driving torque here is not so high.

The countersunk head (or flat countersunk head) mills a recess into the wood with its polygonal underside (“pockets”) and can therefore be countersunk without additional countersinking of the screw hole. The countersunk head sits flush with the surface.

Unlike partial thread, the full thread extends over the entire length of the screw. The more threads a screw has, the greater the tensile and compressive forces that can be transferred from the screw to the wood. Our fully threaded screws are used above all for high‑load wood joints.

Our needle point is characterised by a steeper and longer formation of the screw tip. This enables a non‑slip and pinpoint placement of the screw, especially on smooth substrates. In addition, it ensures a quick initial bite in metal and plastic profiles.

Phosphating means applying a phosphate layer to steel components such as screws. Our phosphated GIX screws for plasterboard offer two advantages: firstly, they do not draw moisture like zinc‑plated screws – that is, they do not show through on the wall surface. Secondly, the phosphated screw heads provide perfect adhesion for the jointing compound.
