Spax wood construction screw WIROX - Properties
The SPAX-typical drive T-STAR plus is a so-called internal six-lobed drive. This shape increases the contact area on our T-STAR plus, and the T-STAR plus bits sit perfectly in the screw head. The best possible transmission of force from the driver to the screw via T-STAR plus enables rapid working, and is significantly more efficient than all other drives.
In contrast to partial thread, the full thread extends over the entire length of the screw. The more thread turns a screw has, the greater the tensile and compressive forces that can be transmitted from the screw to the wood. Our full-thread screws are primarily used for high-load timber connections.
The CUT point of our SPAX screws enables an extremely fast and effective driving in of our wood screws without pre-drilling. The arrow-shaped CUT point, in combination with the wave profile, reduces splitting and tearing of the wood. In addition, the CUT point allows a very precise and non-slip placement of the screw tip even on smooth surfaces.
With WIROX, SPAX has developed a coating that is far superior to galvanisation in terms of corrosion protection. No chromium(VI) is used in WIROX; the screws remain just as load-bearing after years in outdoor areas not directly exposed to the elements, and are also environmentally friendly. WIROX screws are the first choice for all open structures without direct exposure to the weather, such as carports or pergolas; for direct weather exposure such as on terraces we recommend our screws in the stainless steel version.
