The Z cross-recess power drive is a further development of the simple Phillips power drive by the Philips Screw Company. The difference is that the four faces of the screwdriver bit do not taper towards the tip. This increases the lateral support for the bit and reduces the cam-out effect. In conventional cross-recess power drives the cam-out occurs due to the tapering, because the torque of the cordless screwdriver pushes the bit upwards.

If screw connections also need to look good when required, our universal screw with a pan head is an example. The rounded screw head with T-STAR plus or Z cross-recess drive is suitable for visible fastening of metal fittings to wood; the underside of the head sits flat against the metal. The WIROX finish adapts to the colour of the respective silver-coloured metal fittings.

Unlike partial thread, the full thread extends over the entire length of the screw. The more thread turns a screw has, the greater the tensile and compressive forces that can be transmitted from the screw to the wood. Our fully threaded screws are used primarily for high-load timber connections.

The term 4CUT stands for the square-shaped design of the screw point. These edges displace the wood fibres during driving and create space for the screw’s core diameter. The radial pressure exerted by the core in the wood is thus reduced and splitting of the wood near edges is prevented. The required torque of the cordless screwdriver is also reduced, since the screw core does not have to be 'squeezed' into the wood.
