SPAX universal screw WIROX - Features
The SPAX-typical drive T-STAR plus is a so-called internal six-lobed drive. This shape increases the contact surface for our T-STAR plus, and the T-STAR plus bits sit perfectly in the screw head. The best possible transfer of power from driver to screw via T-STAR plus enables swift working, and does so much more efficiently than any other drives.
The countersunk head (or flat countersunk head) mills a recess into the wood with its polygonal underside ("pockets") and can therefore be sunk without additional countersinking of the screw hole. The countersunk head sits flush with the surface.
Unlike partial thread, the full thread extends over the entire length of the screw. The more thread turns a screw has, the greater the tensile and compressive forces that can be transmitted from the screw to the wood. Our full-thread screws are used primarily for highly loaded wood connections.
The term 4CUT stands for the square-shaped formation of the screw tip. These edges displace the wood fibres during driving and create space for the core diameter of the screw. The splitting pressure exerted by the core in the wood is thus reduced and splitting of the wood near the edges is prevented. The required torque of the cordless screwdriver is also reduced, since the core of the screw does not have to be "squeezed" into the wood.
With WIROX, SPAX has developed a coating that is far superior to galvanising in terms of corrosion protection. WIROX does not use chromium(VI); the screws remain just as durable after years in outdoor areas that are not directly exposed to the elements, and are also environmentally compatible.
