The Kreuzschlitz Z power drive is a further development of the simple cross power drive by the Philips Screw Company. The difference is that the four flanks of the screwdriver blade do not taper towards the tip. This increases the lateral support for the bit and reduces the cam-out effect. The latter occurs with conventional cross power drives due to the tapering, because the torque of the cordless screwdriver pushes the screwdriver bit upwards.
The countersunk head (or flat countersunk head) mills a recess into the wood with its polygonal underside (“pockets”) and can therefore be sunk without additionally countersinking the screw hole. The countersunk head sits flush with the surface.
Unlike partially threaded screws, the full thread extends over the entire length of the screw. The more thread turns a screw has, the greater the tensile and compressive forces that can be transferred from the screw to the wood. Our fully threaded screws are used primarily for high-load wood connections.
The term 4CUT refers to the square-shaped design of the screw tip. These edges displace the wood fibres during driving and create space for the core diameter of the screw. The spreading pressure exerted by the core in the wood is thus reduced and splitting of the wood near the edge is prevented. The required torque of the cordless screwdriver is also reduced, because the screw core does not have to be 'squeezed' into the wood.
Unlike conventional galvanized screws, YELLOX is chromium(VI)-free and therefore much more compatible with people and the environment. YELLOX screws are more resistant to corrosion at the same coating thickness. Nevertheless, their use remains restricted to indoor applications. As the name suggests, screws coated with YELLOX have a yellowish appearance.
